Best in Metal 2014

BEST IN METAL ‘FIRST’ AS SOLAR POWERED LONDON CAN MANUFACTURER WINS TOP AWARD

William Say & P Wilkinson Containers have been awarded the MPMA Best in Metal Award 2014 for the creation of a new, rooftop solar farm that now provides energy to their three acre site in Bermondsey, Central London.

The win is the very first time in the long history of Best in Metal that the top award has been made to a non-product entry and, according to MPMA director and chief executive, Nick Mullen, is an excellent example of the sustainable progress being made by whole of the can-making community .

“Producing packaging with a material that recycles forever using the best available energy technology is a superb illustration of the industry’s approach to circular economic thinking and we are delighted to recognise William Say for this outstanding initiative,” he said.

The Best in Metal winner is selected from all MPMA member companies shortlisted in the annual UK Packaging Awards. William Say & P Wilkinson Containers are shortlisted this year in the ‘Investment Project of the Year’ category.
