Eviosys scoops the two top awards in the MPMA sponsored Metal Pack of the Year category of the UK Packaging Awards

EcopeelTM secured the top prize for Eviosys in the Metal Pack of the Year High Volume Food and Beverage category, with Ardagh Metal Packaging awarded a Highly Recommended for Green King Brewery craft beers with H!GHEND.

Eviosys was also awarded the top spot in the Decorative and Promotional, General Line category for Celestia candle tin which was produced using a new hot stamp foil process. Roberts Metal Packaging was awarded a Highly Commended for its Benefit Cosmetics tins.

The Awards were announced at a Grosvenor House, London, dinner last night (12 October) which was attended by packaging industry professionals.

The Metal Pack of the Year Awards were presented by MPMA non-executive director, Nick Mullen.

EcopeelTM revolutionises the way cans are manufactured, with the body bent at 45 degrees to allow foils to be directly sealed to cans. With less material, EcopeelTM saves up to 20 per cent of CO2 emissions compared to regular three-piece cans. Its seamless aperture allows the can’s contents to be easily poured without leaving any wasted product. Delivered with the foil already sealed to the cans and open from the bottom, EcopeelTM is also five times faster to fill and only requires standard seaming equipment.

Nick Mullen, also a UK Packaging Awards judge, said:

“EcopeelTM was the standout entry in this category. Not only is this a clever and innovative new development which improves opening functionality, it also has a direct and positive impact on reducing food waste and CO2 emissions. A very worthy winner.”

Celestia by Eviosys saw the development of a European-wide capability to hot stamp foils directly onto metal packaging.

The winning pack featured a hot stamped diamond effect onto the lid and and has a micro-perforated body allowing candlelight to shine through.

UK Packaging Awards judge and MPMA administration manager, Debbie Clements, commented:

“This is a beautiful pack which stops you in your tracks, but also introduces a new production process which can be used across other products, adding a new dimension to decorative metal packaging.”

Robert Fell, director and chief executive, MPMA said:

“MPMA is delighted to sponsor the UK Packaging Awards, Metal Pack of the Year categories, which seek to recognise, encourage, and reward excellence in metal packaging. This year we saw considerable emphasis on innovation which gave our worthy winners the edge.

“The Association sends huge congratulations to Eviosys on its double win, and to all our metal packaging shortlisted finalists.”
